Gokak Falls – Belgaum trip
Day 1 – 17/02/2018
Location
It was already around 1 pm when we decided to go to Gokak from Belgaum. We caught a bus at KSRTC bus stand in Belgaum to go to Gokak falls. We reached the falls at around 3 pm. Apart from the falls, there is also a temple, a bridge, power station and an old textile factory at this place. The architecture of the textile factory and the power station is very old and beautiful. We need permission to get a tour of the factory. So we skipped going into the factory.
First we saw the falls from the top. The falls is huge and the water falls from a considerable height into the pond below. There was a bridge on top of the falls. We get nice view of the falls and the surrounding hills from the top. Next we went to the view point which is a bit far to see the front view of the falls. From there we found a path that leads to the bottom of the falls.
This goes through a cave like rock structure. The path leads through huge rocks. The steps here are chiseled out of the rocks. At the bottom there is an old power station from where we get the bottom view of the falls. The falls looks beautiful from here. This waterfall will be very beautiful during the monsoon time. We clicked a few pics here and decided to head back up the steps to go to the next waterfalls planned for the day – Godachinmalki falls.
