Siddara Betta – bare foot trek

One day get away from Bangalore – Siddara Betta. This was a road trip and a small trek to see one of the hills near Tumkur. This place is known for the small Shiva temple situated in a cave at the top of the hill.

Date – Jan 7 2018, Sunday

Location –

Four of us started from Bangalore at 6:30am in a nano car. Had breakfast at a place called Sri sai hotel which is near tumkur. The food was ok. Reached siddara betta base at around 10am. We were asked to leave the footwear at the base since there is a temple on top. There are steps to reach the temple. The climb is easy.

We reached the temple and explored the cave like formations. Not many are aware of a trek path that goes further ahead. We followed the path to a view point. It further led to a small pond and a clearing on top of the hill. We rested here for a while and started our descend. On our way back we noticed a sign restricting visitors not to go beyond the temple. The descend was quick. The trek is easy but doing it bare foot was a challenge.

We descended back to the base of the hill by around 1:30 and drove to Tumkur for having our lunch. On the MG road in Tumkur, we found a good restaurant called Vilasi delight. The food was good. Recommend this place for having lunch or dinner in Tumkur. After lunch we headed back to Bangalore.
